CNC stands for “computer numerical control”. CNC Machinery includes mills, routers, and plasma cutters, as well as lathes. These machines are considered “subtractive manufacturing”. This means that they remove material from a large piece to create the final product. In contrast, “additive manufacturing” is adding layers of material to create an object.
H2I Technical Products has machines that range in size and capacity, from small tabletop devices to larger, standalone ones. We offer CNC equipment such as mills, routers, and plasma cutters manufactured by top-tier educational brands including EMCO Group, Roland, and Forest Scientific.
Every device has a spinning tool that cuts parts out. The tool cuts in a pattern that is designed through G-Code or NC-Code. Advancements in technology have made these machines easier to operate than ever before, as they no longer require hours of code to run simple tasks. Today’s machines can create complex designs in minutes.
CNC Machines are a great addition to a classroom setting. Utilizing these machines gives students real world experience. The learning environments are similar to small machining shops, as well as large manufacturing firms. CNC Machinists are in high demand in the job market. Classroom use of machines also includes skills in math, and use of precision measuring tools. It also includes mechanical inspection methods to produce precision parts with extremely close tolerances.
EMCO offers a range of benchtop CNC machining and turning centers. They range from the most basic fundamentals to the highest levels of machining processes and applications.
Forest Scientific CNC routers and plasma cutters are built as robustly as industry models, but priced for educational budgets. All their machines use industry standard G&M Codes, not a proprietary language. They can be used with any CAD/CAM software that produces industry standard G-Codes.
Roland machines utilize SRP player software which allows users to take a 3D model exported as an STL file and go directly to milling a 3D model. Known as subtractive rapid prototyping, this technology provides the opportunity to produce prototypes with a wide variety of materials. These include wood, plastics, and even soft metals. All of this can be done without the need for CAM software or G-Code programming.
